vegetable pulp patties
Ok so I was making my morning juice as usual. Every morning i feel so wasteful throwing away my vegetable pulp, but today i discovered something to do with it. This is what i used but feel free to mix and match however you like.
FOR THE PATTIES: (This made me 4 patties)
.some pulp left over from juicing. What I used was 1/4 head of red cabbage. 2 leaves of kale. 3 leaves of collard greens. 2 carrots. and two
pieces of celery.
.1/4 cut oats
.1/4 cup flax seeds
. pinch of oregano, salt & pepper
.A tablespoon or two of extra virgin olive oil ( Your
preference)
FOR THE TOPPING:
.Two cups of mixed greens (or what ever kind of greens you want.)
.1
avacado
.pinch of cumin
.about a teaspoon of lime juice
.Alfalfa sprouts (or any other kind of sprouts) (as much as you want)
.red onion (small amount)
.& this is optional but I used a teeny tiny bit of "follow your heart grape seed vegenaise , expeller pressed & organic"
All you do is mix the pulp with all other ingredients. Pop it into the deydrator and take it out when the outside is crispy. (should take about 7 hours or so.)
Serving it:
Put two patties on a plate on a bed of mixed greens.
spread the vegenaise on top. ( I probably used all together, 2
teaspoons for all 4 patties)
Mix the avadaco, cumin & lime juice together. (Like your making guacamole.)
spread that on top of the patties. Add thin slices of red onion and lots of sprouts and enjoy
:)

6 reponses to "vegetable pulp patties"
1. I juiced a wedge of purple
I juiced a wedge of purple cabbage, an apple, a peeled jicama and 2 stalks celery. First time trying jicama and I was really happy with how good the juice was. Not sure but may have killed my juiceman. It made 6 patties and since I started them so late I took them out of the dehydrator at 5 hrs. and kept them in the fridge overnight and just put two of them in the dehydrator for 2 hrs. before lunch. I topped one w/ tomato & one w/ avocado and wrapped them in romaine like a sandwich. Yum and the others are there to have over the next couple of days. Awesome veggie burgers and they seem like a good camping food too. Not heavy at all but real filling. THX megan!
2. I LOVED your veggie pulp
I LOVED your veggie pulp patties! I added more olive oil to get the whole thing really moist. The avacado spread was perfect for them! Instead of the rest, I put sunflower seeds on top of the spread and ate it like that. I'm very pleased. I made 2 batches already. :-) I think this may be a daily thing. Thank you for sharing!

this sounds intersting, i will have to try making these. :)
4. I make delicious crackers
I make delicious crackers from the pulp by adding a handful of ground pumpkin seeds, a T. or so of chia, a handful of buckwheat crispies and some salt. Then dry until crisp, they are my favorite crackers. I am going to try your patties now! I too felt guilty about throwing the pulp into the compost.
