Mexican Hot Chocolate
Now that it is getting colder here, my regular icy smoothies aren’t as appealing. So, I have switched to hot chocolate. I love this mixture, it is filling and tastes delicious. I am going to multiply the quantities of the dry ingredients and make a hot chocolate mix and all I will need to add each morning to the blender will be the powder, seeds, sweetner and water. I may even soak, dry and grind the seeds and add them to the powder. If I knew more raw foodists, I would give the powder away in jars for the holidays! I guess I’ll just keep all of mine!!!
1 teaspoon each: maca, carob, mesquite
1 tablespoon each: lucuma, cacao
pinch
cinnamon
pinch salt
smallest amount you can pick up with your spoon of cayenne pepper
sweetner (agave, honey, date syrup), to taste
2 tablespoon sunflower seeds,
soaked
1½ cup hot tap water, not over 100 degrees
1. Drain the sunflower seeds.
2. Put everything in the blender and blend until perfectly smooth.

RawKid, I think any nut would work. I was using cashews, but ran out and had lots of sunflower seeds. Neither of those need to be strained. I would try pistachios, I'm afraid the almond skins would be too gritty. Or you could make the milk first and strain it. I was trying to find an easy way to make it in one step.

You got SNOW????? I'm jealous!
lol thanks daniefon this looks delicious. I could use almonds or pistachios, I suppose, instead of sunflowers?

I bet your version of cold and mine are slightly different, I live in Texas! But, it's all relative, it was about 50 this morning and I was freezing.

I just multiplied the amounts to create a mix that will make 20 servings.
7 T. each: maca, carob, mesquite
1 1/4 c. each: cacao & lucuma
2 1/2 c. sunflower seeds (soaked, dehydrated & ground after measuring)
1 T. cinnamon (or more to taste)
1 t. salt
1/4 to 1/2 t. cayenne
Then you just add 4 T. of the mix to the water and sweetener and blend.
