Emilyjayne's Thoughts

By emilyjayne

I used canned artichokes, because I'm not sure how to prepare them raw. Any suggestions?

While this looks like a good recipe that could be adjusted to be raw, just so you know the olives are probably not raw either.

As well, the salami and feta cheeses are most definitely not raw, as well as being very much not vegan, not even vegetarian for the salami.

EmilyJane, what a nice way to accommodate those at your table who are non-raw. And who knows, maybe with time and patience on your part, they will move on over to raw.

Thanks for sharing.

LOL, I didn't read the preparation.

Are the raw olives good?

I have been meaning to order some as I really like salads with bits of olive, but haven't gotten around to it yet and they are a bit expensive, so I wanted to know if they were any good before buying them. I bought some raw olives from a health foods store and they were incredibly hot (spicy).

I agree with the living with non-raw, non-vegan people. Every time I have made something that my brother/father like, they go, "this is so good, I just can't help thinking how incredible it would be in a real taco shell (in the case of raw tacos), or warm with some cream (raw date squares). Ah well, at least they are eating some healthy raw stuff.

The raw olives I got were okay. They're just very different. I ened up soaking them in some sea salt water, because I just couldn't live without the saltiness. I realized that's what I go to olives for - salt! I hope to break myself of this habit though. :)

It almost seems like the fat in them is off... I couldn't enthusiasically recommend them, but they're worth trying.

I've been fortunate that my family supports me. I make them try stuff all the time, and overall they usually like it. Getting my young girls to eat some of the stuff is a challenge though! :) They like mostly the sweet stuff and fruity stuff.

Throw in some mushrooms and garlic to the recipe for a more authentic antipasto.

Obviously -of course! I ate the raw part, as I said in my recipe, and then had the salami and feta on the side for others. The olives and artichokes you can do what you will. :) I bought raw olives off of natralzing.com, so they're raw. ( They're different!)

I thought it was a good recipe (and tasty) from those who perhaps live with non-raw or vegans.
