Use of dehydrator

Hello all

I got my dehydrator delivered from the states and started using it yesterday. Its the 9 tray excaliber. I’ve realised that for my large family I am going to be dehydrating 24 hours a day. Does anyone know whether the poor thing needs a break? I mean, can it just keep running and running like that?

I did find this link for making a dehydrator. My DH is quite handy (and bragging he can make a better one) so I thought I’d give this a try before shelling out mega-bucks and buying one.

From what I understand they are meant for pretty high usage. You will be using it at a lower temp then normal so probably less wear and tear on the dehydrator.

Wow, a homemade dehydrator? I’d love to hear/see how that turns out. Please let us know if he does build one!
