  • Jerusalem Artichoke Syrup (sweetener) -- anyone tried it?

Yes, I have tried it. And it's quite delicious.

I use it on my oatmeal every morning.

It has a taste similar to mollasses, so it's a greaat substitute for brown sugar.

  • Jerusalem Artichoke Syrup (sweetener) -- anyone tried it?

I have been trying to find this as well. Cafe Gratitude sent an email about it a while ago, but I have yet to find it as well and I don't know anyone who's tried it. I love yacon syrup and coconut nectar, but this would be a great third option for unbaking.

  • Jerusalem Artichoke Syrup (sweetener) -- anyone tried it?

I was browsing a new (to me) raw food storefront, Vivapura, and came across their "sweetener of choice" -- Jerusalem artichoke syrup. They claim it's the lowest-glycemic raw sweetener available (well, besides stevia, I suppose) with a GI of 6. They stopped carrying yacon syrup because they liked this one so much.

    Anyone tried it? I'm curious...

    Product is here:

Yet another surprising wonder in the plant world!

  • Ugh..I'm losing my hair!!!

    Hi Nuttgirl!

Are you 100% raw? When I went 100% raw this january my hair started folling of very rapidly and it is much thinner now than it used to be. The rapid hair loss lasted about 1-1/2 months and then it stopped(thank god!!).This is very common when people go 100% raw and one women I know told be about this before I started raw, because this heppend to her and about 8-12 months later she had all her hair back(she is 100% raw). I im not talking about baldspots or all the hair off the hed,but thinner so in my case thats no proplem.

This is do to the cleansing of the body and the hair follicles are no exeptions,so in fact this is a good thing and you know it grows back and probably thicker and more beautiful than before.

  • Dried fruit

I love dried fruit. Usually, I used freeze dried fruits float to make drink. It is no sugar, natural sweet and definitely raw.

  • Peeing...a lot

Been raw for years, but in the beginning I was mostly in gourmet raw veganism. Now, I eat a lot more whole raw foods, not a lot of salt, much more fruit carbs compared to nut fats (although I'm not a strict 80/10/10er). Once I did that, peeing was so much more often. I don't need an alarm clock because my body will just tell me to get up and pee!

Aside from water and the hydrating fruit and vegetables, I also drink a lot of coconut water. Over here in my country, we call that buko juice, and I will the flesh that comes along with it.

  • Sick when eating cooked food

Yes, it does seem like a struggle to keep eating raw foods and limit cooked foods. I find that we need to set goals. Like, when I was on my juice fast, I did not have cravings for food because I made my mind up that I was not going to eat.

At like my third day of breaking my 30 day fast, I thought that because my stomach had handled fruit, raisins and carrot soup so well, that I could introduce some oatmeal. It was the steamed rolled oats. I had half a cup of oats soaked in water until soft mixed with a couple bananas and a lot of cinnamon and molasses on it. Then after two hours or so, I had another bowl JUST like it. AND, I FELT TERRIBLE THAT NIGHT. Bloated, lots of gas, indigestion. I also hated and still do, the feeling of being full/ stuffed. This happens mainly when I eat cooked food but too much raw food can also be very filling. Well, that night, I was so bloated it was unreal. I woke up in the middle of the night and burped up most of the air that was in my stomach. THERE WAS A LOT OF IT. it is also very hazardous to our health to be so bloated. Furthermore, being full all the time stretches the stomach. I think that I will go on another fast soon but not until I have the money for some nutritional supplements like bee pollen and wheatgrass and such. I need to get to the health food store soon.

  • Sick when eating cooked food

Cooked food definitely upsets my System, creating a mental, physical and spiritual imbalance. It’s for my own well-being I stick to raw now, otherwise I feel horribly ill.
