excessive fat consumption coupled with a low protein, desire for a solution

Okay, so I met a lady at a banquet that has been experimenting with raw foods. I took upon myself the task to try and come up with meals that she could eat that would not be boring. I think that this sounds like an intersting way to live and would like to give it a whirl, but I am concerned about the large amount of fat that it seems the typical raw-foodist conumes. I do not think it would be good for me to get a large proportion of my daily calories from fat. I am also concerned about getting adequate protein. So here is the question: Is it possible to eat a raw foods diet that is not high and fat and contains adequate protein (by adequate I mean approximately 50 grams per day)? If so, how do I go about find recipes for such a lifestyle? Most of what I have found so far has relies heavily on nuts, seeds, and olive oil. I love those things, but do not feel they should be the dominant source of calories. I have managed to successfully sprout beans, but I don't know what to do with them from there. Any suggestions anyone might have would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Yep, it's totally possible to get a low-fat raw diet and get enough protein. Just make sure to eat enough sweet fruit (that means a lot) and moderate amounts of tender leafy greens and vegetable fruits like tomatoes and cucumber. Keep avocado and nut intake low.

It's the healthiest raw diet. :)

  • Oh my gosh, so I tried sprouting beans and then eating them last night for a low fat raw protein source. Delicious, really, but oh my god the internal revolt!! My stomach swole, I became gassy, heartburn, the works. I may as well have gotten a bug. I figured it would all out in the morning if my body couldn't handle the digestion, but it has not yet "come to pass" if you will. :) I figured that there might be an adjustment period, but nothing as intense as the experience I had. Maybe I went about the sprouting wrong or something, I don't know. Quite uncomfortable. This is the first time that I have eaten a raw dish that made me feel worse instead of better. I am going to head to the bannana site now. Thank you.

  • What is this 811 business all about? I am having trouble navigating the bananas site, but the thread I read is commenting on just the sort concern that I was expressing, thank you for the direction.
