detox - help!

Hello all! I’m very new to raw, going from a SAD diet to a raw-til-dinner type of diet (I wanted to ease in rather than trying to be 100% right away). I have to say, I was so grateful to find this forum! Not only have I found some wonderful recipes that are tasty and easy (even at the best of times I’ve never really cooked much or enjoyed the process of cooking), I’ve also found a whole new enthusiasm and appreciation for different flavors and combining them. So a big thank you to all of you who’ve contributed so much information.

Anyway, I’ve seen a number of threads on detox symptoms and I just have a few quick questions if anyone can spare a bit of time to answer…

Firstly, I’ve had the most persistent cold for the past 2 weeks and still counting. Is it normal for things to hang on so long? Secondly (this is very embarassing) but I’ve suddenly been discharging mucus from every orfice (and I do mean every!). I’m even getting a bit of mucus when urinating which is something I’ve not seen mentioned before in any of the discussions that I’ve read so I’m a bit worried…has this been a part of the detoxing process for anyone else out there?

It might be “detox”, but then again, you might just be sick, kellyne. Most “detox” symptoms are flu-ish, like diarrhea(over-load of bile and acids, among other things), aching muscles, headache, but they are over for most people in 2 or 3 weeks.

Urinating mucus might indicate you have a urinary tract infection. Is there any burning and/or cloudiness in your urine?

  • Thanks for getting back to me TomsMom. In answer, nope I don’t have any of those symptoms of a urinary infection…no fevers or cloudiness etc but I’ve just noticed this and am a bit disturbed. Do you think it’s worth getting checked out?

Well, when it comes to the urinary tract,(and if you have insurance), it won’t hurt to go pee in a cup and let it get looked at. I’m not a lover of doctors, but I would in this case. Just don’t fret over it, okay? Hugs!
