  • The score marks are fine. I have done the same without any repercussions. Occasionally I will use a scotch pad while cleaning the sheets and I haven’t noticed any problems.
  • I was surprised because my water is very hot but the screens did fine. I just run the shortest cycle and make sure the heat dry is turned off!
  • They are tricky to handle. I wipe them down with a soapy dish rag then use my sprayer to rinse them off with very hot water. I also put my trays and mesh screens in the dishwasher from time to time to give them an extra good cleaning. I have to remo…
  • Who cares what the trouble is, chocolate is ALWAYS the solution, lol.
  • Yeah that’s it, kisses, yeah. lol
  • Hisses @ Blue, LOL
  • BUSTED!...I MEANT to suggest Alissa’s salad as a reference of a type of salad, lol. I didn’t intend to suggest using her particular recipe, lol. Potato salad is pretty generic really. Spank me for not being clearer! LOL
  • Raw, basic, familiar ingredients would be the key. Perhaps salads such as Alissa Cohen’s potato salad or some type of simple dessert using the more common produce and ingredients found in a typical grocery store.
  • Congrats on the new gift, you’re gonna love it! In response to your questions: 1. I remove the tray directly above and below the tray in use to allow better circulation, if I have empty trays. I’m learning how to make use of all the trays whenever p…
  • BeTheChange- I’m curious as to how you keep your produce fresh? Some fruits and veggies are fine at room temperature but stuff like leafy greens wouldn’t survive very well. I’ve often considered switching to the dorm type of fridge to discourage ove…

  • Until recent price surges the average household spent $50-$60 per person per week. It sounds like you’re completely in line on the grocery budget and I’d love to know your secret, lol.

  • LOL…funny you mention that. When I told a friend about your comment, he agreed that I favor Eddie. Major fan here, gotta love him! As for the passion, it’s my default mode, lol. I’ll need an occasional reminder to be more compassionate!
  • Bluedolfin- I agree with the compassion approach when dealing with newbies. I realize my initial post sounded hostile and that was not my intent. I’m a Leo and by default I tend to be passionate about things, lol.
  • I found a recipe, on the net, for a raw V8 juice that I like. I don’t recall the author but the recipe was open to the public. 6 medium-sized carrots 1 small beet (wash well) 3 large tomatoes 1 bag baby spinach 1/4 head fresh cabbage 1 red bell pepp…

  • Welcome back Kandace and Ray! I trust you found new food inspirations in your trip to France!
  • If it has a slightly sour/sweet smell it’s completely normal. It’s actually a form of sourdough.
  • Yea!!! It appears to be back up and working! I agree waterbaby, it’s been lonely in Indiana without my raw community, lol.
  • Yes vacuum sealing is a good option but only for short term storage of wet ingredients. I like to use vacuum sealing for my dry stuff to stretch the storage time
  • No way that I know of. Canning is all about destroying the enzymes and creating a vacuum seal. I guess you could say dehydrating is the raw version of canning, lol.
  • I’m not suggesting that it shouldn’t be discussed. Nor did I suggest that what is happening to our food supply as unimportant. If you wish to discuss politics, knock yourself out, lol. It’s just not what I come here for.
  • Hardly. I’m expressing my boredom with the sudden political rants on this site lately. I suspect most of us have made our decision about the candidates by now and I would certainly hope we’re looking at a bigger picture than just one issue. Last tim…

  • I’m slowly introducing the raw concept to my boys. I only have them on weekends so I have to compromise to some extent since I have no control over what their mother feeds them. I also make grocery shopping part of our routine. It provides opportuni…
  • I just thought it was a hoosier thing, lol. It’s spring in Indiana and that means mushrooms season. Morels are in high demand right now!

  • Most fruits can be frozen without too much of an impact but veggies generally don’t freeze well raw. Most of them have to be blanched first which kills the enzymes. Peppers and onions will freeze raw but they will also be softer when thawed.
  • I can certainly relate to this topic. Just last nite I was insulted, by a co-worker, for my food choices. This is a person who thinks nothing of digging the vending machine throw aways out of the trash! I just can’t believe the audacity!
  • Be careful putting wet foods in a glass dish for freezing. Liquids expand and could crack the glass. Most glass freezer containers are actually pyrex which is more tolerant!
  • I guess my question would be…how much horsepower does one really need in the kitchen? lol.
  • Ironically I bought my Vita Mix and my Solostar juicer at the same time and I generally prefer to use my juicer whenever possible. The Vita Mix is very powerful and great for grinding heavy things but it’s a real pain to collect all the contents fro…
