I eat a raw diet and am happy to find others for support. It is challenging to eat so differently in this society, but I have developed a few philosophies about what to eat to make my life more simple. I don't like obsessing about food, I don't like living strictly, and I don't know why eating raw has to be synonymous with vegetarianism-- that is too strict for me. I have found that by including cheese, dairy, sprouted grain breads, eggs, and occasional meat (cooked rare or pan seared) that I still feel healthy and "raw" and am including so much more nutrients for my body to use. I also believe in eating in accordance with the seasons; I feel at my best when following a hunter/gather society's natural cycle, which is, more fruit and veggies in the summer and more meat and breads in the winter.
Eating raw helps me feel closer to nature, and eating to the seasons brings me all that much more closer.
I am 30 years old. I live in Texas. I really like it here because it's so warm and we have a long growing season... not that I grow-- I wish I could but I live in a tiny apartment with my husband and little boy. We have no yard or even sunlight :( But anyway, we're happy and we decided to go raw a couple months ago based on the outrageous claims that were being made, i.e., glowing skin, more energy, never getting sick, etc. I can't say any of that has occurred for me as of yet, but I do feel pretty good, and what I've really enjoyed is the new possibilities created in the kitchen... turns out I have a knack for this! My husband and I will stick with it because even if it doesn't do all these miraculous things, it does have many other benefits to us...
Now if I could just get my 2 year old into it more...
