Yield
1- 12 oz smoothie -
Equipment
None
Ingredients
5 stalks of collard greens (torn)
Juice of 1 grapefruit (red fleshed)
2 bananas (speckled brown)
4-6 cubes ice (opt)
Recipe Directions
Add grapefruit juice to blender and the flesh if desired, then the bananas, and then collards. Blend until smooth then add the ice and blend well.
This is very sweet despite the ingredients. A ripe grapefruit is actually sweet and the bananas will really make this even sweeter. Don't worry the greens do not have an overpowering taste and taste almost exactly like kale but I do recommend tearing them into pieces, because the leaves are so big but not too small.
RawNibbler's Thoughts
By RawNibblerFrom my experience, eating seasonal foods has supported my immune system and tasted much better (especially when organic). This smoothie gives me the RUSH I need in the morning and is absolutely delicious!
