Recipe Directions

1. Combine ingredients in food processor until smooth. You might have to stop and let the machine rest because of the nuts.

2. Allow mixture to sit covered on counter for 2 hours, or place in dehydrator for 1 hour at 110 Fahrenheit.

3. Shape into small roll about 2 inches in diameter.

4. Wrap in plastic wrap and place on plate in refrigerator until chilled. I let it ripen in the refrigerator overnight.

Is this supposed to taste like liverwurst? My mom used to buy liverwurst all the time. It is sort of gross looking but it tasted good. Yum! I would definatley try this.

I think it is an awesome name. He loves animals so the faux meat is a substitute for eating a animal.

I made this and it tastes wonderful. Just like liverwurst I used to eat only without the bitter aftertaste of the liver. I left off the nama shoyu and added another Tbs of olive oil.

This is excellent. I'm making it right now. It has a great taste and great texture and it doesn't bog ya down.

Thanks Shortnotgold! I really don't remember what "liverwurst" tastes like. Its been at least 30 years since I've had any.

I haven't tried any other nuts Randommara. I picked the Brazil because they seem to break down really easy.

Oh, and why the name? I feel food is supposed to be the most fun thing in life. Plus what could make a pig happier but eating something they could enjoy too (without giving an arm and a leg for it...literally!) After all, Ben & Jerry's have made history with names like "Cherry Garcia".;-)

This looks so awesome! I don't have access to brazil nuts. Have you tried any other kind of nut?

Its been so long since I've had liverwurst that I have no idea if it tastes like it or not. All I know is that I make it and hide it in the refrigerator so my wife doesn't know its there! It really tastes great combined with eggless salad on a mushroom cap!
