Essential oils are a fun way to make smoothies and dressing really vibrant. This smoothie makes me giddy. If you use frozen fruit, you get the peppermint ice cream effect.

Recipe Directions

1. Put everything in a blender.

2. Add enough water to get the smoothie going.

essential oils are expensive, but a little goes a long way. I am only preparing food for 2 at home so it actually ends up being cheaper to use essential oils to give things flavor the fresh herbs (unless its summertime and fresh herbs are abundant)

great idea to use the essential oils (in limited quantities) and it's something I want to get more into..... I wonder if you get the benefits of the aromatherapy as well as those of taste?

I tried this and added my own twist to it with coconut oil, orange juice, cinnamon, and some cacao nibs. Made it taste like chocolate chip mint icecream :)

What essential oils does everyone use in their food?

The only safe ones I know of are Young's. They're v.expensive ae there any cheaper options?

wow!!! I just made this with a blender full of spinach and a large bananna and a few drops of Frontier Natural alcohol free peppermint flavor, plus a splash of vanilla.

I put a candy cane (not raw) in the glass for fun. What a great holiday treat.

so glad you all like it. I was inspired by my roommate's, non raw, candy cane soy milk.

1Christine, my favorite green powder is Vitamineral Greens by Nutriforce. They also make one called Greener Grasses that has more of the alfalfa/barley taste you like.

I plan on trying it, but with just real mint leaves. I have not had good luck with using essential oils (I have had them leave hard to remove residues etc) But your recipe sounds great, I am a big frozen banana gal! As far as a concentrated green product, I have Vibrant Health "Field of Greens" and am trying to make it palatable because I know it is so good for me! I have used Barley Green and it tastes great to me, but these green concoction powders are hard to stomach, literally!! I have a very weak digestive system.....well I had some jokes that are probably inappropriate, if true!!! (;smile;)
