A taste fix for the former Thai addicts in the house.

Recipe Directions

1. Mix all of the vegetables in a large bowl (save a few green onion tops for garnish).

2. In another bowl, mix the nut butter with the garlic and ginger, lemon juice, soy sauce, honey, and hot sauce until smooth.

3. Right before serving, mix sauce with veggies and enjoy. Eat with chopsticks for supreme enjoyment.

This was yum-tastic! I changed the recipe a bit, added raw (jungle!) peanut butter instead of almond, added a tbs of coconut butter, used limes instead of lemons, and red curry paste instead of hot sauce. I also sliced the carrot into "noodles" too, which was really great! A sprinkle of chopped peanuts on top, and it was delish!! A wee bit limey though, next time I'll do one lime. Thanks for the recipe!!! ;d

Soy sauce is not raw. Nama shoyu is not raw either. It is impossible to eat soy raw. See the discussion "It's Called Raw for a Reason" to find out more about onions and hot peppers.

This was soooo close to my favorite Thai dish! Thank you so much for fixing my thai craving. I used raw jungle peanut butter that I made myself instead of the almond butter (2 cups of raw jungle peanuts processed to desired consistency, with a bit of either peanut or sesame oil). I will be having this one a lot!!!

UPDATE: MADE THIS FOR DINNER

WHOA! This rocks - I love you forever! :-D

I subbed regular cabbage because I didn't have any other kind - also, I think this would be really good with some sprouts! I would've tried it but I didn't have any at the time.

I also had to use raw peanut butter instead of almond butter, and I used a peeler to make "wide noodles" out of the zucchini and the carrot. Yum! This is my new favorite...

ahhhh! this is too good. I did end up eating this for dinner about four or times in a row back when i posted the comment up above.

I made this at work today and my co-worker who is somewhat raw but not committed totally loved it. We had purple and napa cabbage, some orange bell pepper, some button mushrooms, broccoli, and two kinds of carrots. we didn't use any agave, but had lots of garlic and lots of ginger and fresh cilantro. mmmm.

I loved this dish!!!!! Simply divine! My husband said it tasted even better than the SAD version! Instead of Nama Shoyu I used dulse. I cannot wait to have the leftovers for lunch - there were leftovers because I made a double batch. Thanks, juleskess!

I loved this and I'm a raw newbie! I think that Nama Shoyu is too salty, used regular soy-sauce this time and will try Braggs next time I make it.

This recipe is amazing. It pairs quite well with the "Thai Curry Soup":http://www.therawtarian.com/community/recipe/thai-curry-soup and "Cucumber Sesame Salad":http://www.therawtarian.com/community/recipe/cucumber-sesame-salad. I doubled the recipe and, instead of another zucchini, added some crook-neck squash and young coconut strips.

Socal - did you stop eating NS and Braggs (if you ever did eat it) because it started to feel bad in your body (unclean) after you had been raw for a certain period? If so, how long on strictly raw did it take for your body to change to the point where these foods have a noticeable effect or feeling in your body? As a vegetarian, I've always been worried about (and sort of resigned to) the fact that I knew I must be unknowingly eating chicken broth sometimes - or anchovies - even when something was billed as vegetarian. It feels like the same thing now - nuts and sauces that might be labeled raw turn out to not be.

Here is a quote from a web site on this: "MSG is added to many foods, particularly Chinese foods. Be aware that if a restaurant claims that there is no MSG added to the food, but they use soy sauce extensively in their cooking, you will be getting natural MSG that is in the soy sauce and can not be removed." From this link: http://www.carbohydrateaddicts.com/msg.html

Sorry if you felt I was putting down the recipe, the recipe is probably great for those who try it. I was just saying that anything made with soy is not raw, which includes nama shoyu. It has nothing to do with pasteurization. We can not eat raw soy, it must be cooked before it can be eaten. The discussion about hot peppers and so is in the Being Raw section of the forums. It's quite long though. BTW anything made with soy contains natural MSG which is an excitotoxin and should be avoided anyway, even if it could be eaten raw.

Well sure, if there is no soy sauce type liquid that you feel comfortable with, you could just add a little more lemon juice and a bit of sea salt or dulse. In regards to the debate however, here is an interesting article that Cheynems posted in forums about Braggs which I used to love.

Hello! Where would I be able to find the discussion, "it's called raw for a reason"? I'd like to learn more on the topic, is it in a specific forum? Thanks!

There are debates about whether Nama Shoyu is truly raw or not. It's included in most raw cookbooks, and many people consider it to be raw as it is unpasteurized. You're stating one side of an argument, Socal, not an accepted truism.

I think this recipe looks great, juleskess. Thanks for posting it!
