I'm not raw yet. I have been on/off vegetarian for about 10 years (I am 24) as I was appalled by animal cruelty but I kept slipping up, mostly due to everyone around me eating meat and me feeling pressured!
I am now old enough to go it alone, I think, although people do think I am too extreme already (and I'm just an average vegetarian)!
I did try going vegan for one week but couldn't handle it. Without being able to eat any products containing butter or cheese I just felt completely lost. It was even worse as I like to avoid soya.
I am slightly-built and naturally thin with naturally low (not extreme) blood pressure, so I am concerned about making sure I get my calories, protein, carbs without losing weight.
I grow my own organic sprouts, only drink water/pure juice/organic herbal tea, try to buy organic food when poss (much of it isn't available unfortunately!) and rarely eat processed or junk food (but I do buy good-quality freezer meals sometimes, after checking the ingredients!)
I hope I won't find the transition too difficult.
Looking forward to learning!
Been eating alot of meat products. I'm on Pelletheads, It's a BBQ grill forum. I notice that most of the people on the forum don't look healthy and are over weight. Maybe I can cold smoke or low temp some raw food. I am a creative person, a machinist, metal fabricator and welder.
I need to lose about 50lbs, so I don't feel as tired and my legs might feel better and maybe I can bend over easier.
i am from Croatia, Europe, from Medjugorje!( maybe you know this little place on earth)....i am raw for a year...
nice to be here...
I am new to the raw food world. I started eating more fruits and veggies last year, and have slowly transitioned into no meat, less cooking, but I would like to take the plunge into raw. I need help to do it. I look at recipes and feel so overwhelmed. Do you all need to schedule your soaking, sprouting, dehydrating? I would like to hear what you all do for shortcuts, or if you do things in batches. Right now it seems I need to be starting Wednesday's dinner, today. help!
im just transitioning to raw from being vegan for 5 years. i don't have much money so its just been bananas and raw almond butter and salsas lately but i should be getting a dehydrator soon. I have 1 friend that is raw and is stoked that im going raw but my other friends are freaked out. im not 100% raw yet because i dont want to give up everything just yet, i guess im 90% raw. i look forward to being 100% raw in the next few months and to maybe snag a vitamix. I also live in nyc so i can get anything raw anytime if i have the money.
i do have a question, I heard from a friend that you cant eat beans raw since there is a toxin in them or something. is this true?
