A lot of raw vegans find it difficult to keep warm in the colder months. This soup uses a lot of warming spices to heat you up from the depths of your belly. I made it in the middle of a hailstorm, parked myself by the heater and got toastie.
Ok…I have been too busy to make anything else but smoothies in the morning and I’ve been needing an idea to get greens in my smoothie but still pack it with protein to make it filling. This smoothie was adapted from one i saw online. It is by far the most filling morning smoothie I have made and it’s awesome for those who want to get in greens but don’t want to taste them. The flaxseed, chia powder, walnuts make this very high in omega 3 protein. Banana sweetens it and takes away the taste of the greens. Sooooo filling and yummy! A great variation to my raw oatmeal smoothie.
This smoothie contains many of the omega 3 and 6 fatty acids we all strive to include in our diets. Flaxseeds or flax oil is the greatest non animal food source of these acids. The avocado and nuts/seeds are other good sources of various omega acids and make this very filling. Dark leefy greens are the other excellent source of omega 3’s. The banana’s sweetness makes this smoothie ideal for those who don’t want to totally taste their greens. (like me ;) Blueberries contain the most antioxidants of all fruits and are added for extra health benefits. I like alot of blueberrys so my smoothie has more of a red/purple color than green.
A fabulous means of getting your greens! When the delicious combo of garlic and hemp meld with the sweetness of dates, you’ll forget that you’re eating an entire leaf of chard. Also works great with collards or nori.
