makes one bouquet, and extra dipped fruit

delicious and simple, good for special occasions

Ingredients

  • ½ cup coconut oil
  • ¼ cup coconut butter
  • ¼ cup cocoa butter
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, heaping,or more to taste
  • 1 tablespoon light agave
  • 12 strawberries
  • 6 blackberries
  • 1 medium bunch grapes
  • 1 bunch mint
  • wooden skewers
  • cup or container for arrangement
  • floral foam to fit container

Preparation

wash and dry all fruit.melt coconut oil, coconut butter and cocoa butter in a small bowl placed in a larger bowl of hot water.stir until well melted, strain out anything that is not melted.add cocoa powder and agave. allow mixture to cool down till thickened, like hot fudge. skewer desired amount of berries.dip/twirl berries into chocolate.(at this point you could double dip chocolate into chopped nuts or shredded coconut.)i had a piece of styrofoam to stick skewer in till chocolate dried… for bouquet pictured i dipped 12 strawberries,6 blackberries and had 5 plain grape skewers. i added about 4 grapes under the berries to hide skewers.arrange in cup or container using mint to fill in.dip extra berries and grapes in remaining chocolate so you don’t have to eat arrangement right away! if desired you should have enough chocolate for 24 strawberries, for a fuller bouquet.this was inspired by edible arrangements . of course you may use any fruit you like in this, the combinations are endless,i just used what i had in the fridge!

I was going to send one of those edible arrangements to my mom. They were pretty expensive, and I could only imagine how they were preserved! I am going to try this, it is a great idea. I also found a product made by Artisana, it is a cacao coconut butter, it sounds similar to what you’ve made. Buying it readymade would be a time saver for me . It hardens as it cools. I think pineapple would be good too, I have seen them cut into flower shapes.

Thank you for the great idea!

hi daniefon…that cacao coconut butter sounds great! i wanted to post this in time for mothers day so i just used what i had on hand.this was so easy i think a child could do it. the flower shapes out of pineapple with melon centers are beautiful but of course you need the cutters(wilton fondant cutters work well for that)you could also not dip the berries for red roses.i would also change the grapes to alternating red and green if i’d planned this!

This is such an awesome idea! We are having a family Mother’s Day dinner, and I was thinking of this, and then wondering about fruit shapes and edible flowers with it – you guys are great :)

I am excited for all the ideas! For our Mother’s Day dinner, the guys are responsible to plan & provide the food. I’m single, but I talked my bro. into paying for the fruit so I can bring a huge edible bouquet! No edible flowers, but I’m going to have fun with the shapes, and my son wants me to do carmel-chocolate balls, too, so I may stick those in and not worry about dipping the fruit. I have a couple of mini cookie cutters (1 flower & 1 star) that I may use, and do grapes for flower centers; I’ll post a pic as my avatar after Sunday. :) Thanks so much for the ideas!

wow – that looks just like one from edible arrangements! I helped out up there for mother’s day this weekend, and I found out some of their “secrets” (not really secrets – just things you don’t think about). They use a head of lettuce to stick the sticks into instead of styrofoam and if you chill the berries after they are dipped it gives a GREAT texture! Anyway this looks awesome – very pretty.
