Alkaline Green Smoothie

Serves 1 to 2

This is my standard morning smoothie. It brightens my day and keeps me going for hours.

Ingredients

  • 2 apples, chopped (I add the seeds)
  • 3 stalks celery, chopped
  • ½ cucumber, chopped
  • ½ lemon, juiced
  • 1 thin slice of ginger
  • 2 big handfuls of spinach
  • 1½ cups water

Preparation

Blend away. I drink all of this in one sitting. You could refrigerate half of it and drink it later in the day. Or share it with a loved one:)

I blend it in my blender. The apple seeds have B-17 in them. This vitamin is missing in our diet due to not eating the seeds of the fruit we consume. Cyanide…maybe. There are several schools of thought on this. According to the research I’ve done, this component in apple seeds, apricot seeds, bitter almond seeds, etc. attacks only cancerous or abnormal cells, NOT normal, healthy cells.

Interesting about the seeds! This sounds delicious and so healthy! I can’t wait to try it, I’ve been looking for green smoothie recipes that I can make with all local foods (no banana) Thanks for the recipe!

Interesting about the B-17 in apple seeds. They do have traces of cyanide, but I believe that the amount is so miniscule that one would have to eat an outrageous amount of apple seeds to cause harm. Snopes explains it better: <br> http://www.snopes.com/food/warnings/apples.asp <br>

It’s funny – sometimes HTML formatting works on this site and sometimes it doesn’t. The <br> is supposed to make a line break. Oh Well…..
