Milk N Honey Granola
Makes about 4.5 cups
Sweet morning breakfast of the Goddesses
Ingredients
- 2 cups oat groats, soaked, sprouted, rolled
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 cup dehydrated cherries
- ½ cup cacao nibs
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon star anise, ground
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg, preferably fresh ground
- agave necter or honey, your choice
- almond or hemp milk, your choice
- fresh berries, your choice
Preparation
First, soak and sprout the oat groats. When they are completely sprouted and dry, spread them out on a flat surface or cutting board and use a rolling pin to crush and roll out the oats. They won’t get like the kind you buy in the store but it does help them soften a little more and flatten out a bit. Mix all the other ingrediants in together and store in a tupperware container. To serve: pour a half cup to 3/4 cup in your bowl, add fresh berries, top with a nice dollop of agave nectar or honey, whichever you prefer, and then mix in your milk of preference. I used hemp milk and it was delish! PS- If you don’t want to take the time to dehydrate cherries on their own, you certainly can used dried and they’ll be just as nice. I like them dehydrated because it adds a little crunch. But no appliances are neccessary if you don’t have them.

Where do you get your oat groats to sprout? I’ve had no luck sprouting even the oat groats that say they are raw (like from Jaffe Brothers and the Sprout House). Thanks!

I got mine from the natural food store in my town, Native Sun. I didn’t have the easiest time with mine either. I suppose I should’ve said germinated. I soaked for about 24 hours and then set them on a dehydrator mesh tray under cheesecloth on my counter for about 2 to 3 days. They opened up a bit but I didn’t really see much in the way of tails. But the texture improved when I rolled them out.
