Chocolate and peanut butter, need I say more?

Ingredients

  • Raw Cocoa Powder
  • Coconut Oil, liquified
  • Agave Nectar
  • Peanut Butter
  • Dehydrated Sprouted Buckwheat

Preparation

1. Place jar of coconut oil in a bowl of warm water and stir until it becomes liquid.

2. Put about 1/2 c to 1 c cocoa powder into a bowl depending on how much you want to make. You can really use more or less depending on how much you want.

3. Begin adding coconut oil a few tablespoons at a time and whisk into cocoa powder. You have enough when the mixture begins to clump up in the whisk. Measurements not important, you can add as much or as little as you want. Anything will pretty much work.

4. Add peanut butter, agave, and buckwheat to taste. Haven’t tried it, but I think raw buckwheat would work without being sprouted or dehydrated.

5. Spread onto sheet pan or wax paper or put into molds to make shapes. Place in fridge to harden. Will harden quickly and will stay pretty solid at cool room temperatures.

Variations:

1. Add any fruits and nuts you want, or other nut butters.

2. Add spices

3. Ground up mint leaves or mint extract. I tried this one…you have to use a lot of mint to get the flavor to come through over the chocolate.

4. Ginger

5. This can be made thin and used as a sauce as well.

6. Etc. Etc. Etc.

So glad you like recipe. Peanut butter and chocolate are one of my favorite combos. YUM. I was also thinking about making little peanut butter cups. Put choc. in lined muffin tins, top with peanut butter, then put more chocolate. Let you know if I try it.

peanut butter doesn’t tend to be raw. did you make it yourself? or buy it at a special place?

Tell me, can one buy dehydrated sprouted buckwheat, or does one have to dehydrate it themselves? One does not own a dehydrator. Are there any good substitutes one could use?

Yes, put them on a towel and let them air dry. Or in the oven, turned on low with teh door open a crack.

Peanuts are not even a nut. They are legumes. They are often grown with cotton and is often sprayed a lot and even if it was raw and organic, peanuts do not digest well. I have always noticed this before I was vegan even. That I liked to eat peanuts but if I had any more than 3 handfuls, I would get a stomach ache. Maybe try tahini or some other kind of nut butter?

Almond butter might be great but that is not raw anymore.

Erin: This looks very yummy! It makes want to order some jungle peanuts/jungle peanut butter from sunfood.com.

Shgadwa: Have you tried jungle peanuts/jungle peanut butter from sunfood.com? It’s organic and alfatoxin free (kind of spendy, though). Sunfood.com recommends soaking the nuts 7-8 hours to render them more digestible. Also, check out naturalzing.com or sunfood.com for truly raw almond butter!

You can certainly substitute any nut butter for the peanut butter. Slosh-uh: You can use your oven as a dehydrator, but you can also use raw buckwheat instead.

peanuts aren’t raw – also all peanuts are grown near other crops (cotton?) & absorb a lot of pesticides

Also, almonds are pasturized – and most almond butter is made from rosted almonds – so you need to be careful….it’s best to make it from scratch at home….

this is just like chocolate! thanks for the great recipe. i used my boyfriend’s last peanut butter, but he was more than delighted with it. he likes bitter chocolate, and you can make it as sweet or bitter as you like. it’s genius!
