Makes 1 serving...

I actually got the idea for this drink from a recipe I found through the Sunny Raw Kitchen site. The recipe was called “Best Coffee Ever”. It was very good, but a little too thick, and strong. So, I made some changes after many trial and errors with the recipe. I finally came up with this rendition, which I truly found delicious! I hope you do too.

One note: I recommend you use “heaping” scoops of the raw cacao powder, and heaping tablespoons of the raw carob. It’s okay to use a little more of both then not.

Ingredients

  • 1 Scoop, Raw Cacao Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Raw Carob Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Maca Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Lucuma Powder
  • 3 Capsules, Fo-Ti (Ho Shou Wu), emptied
  • 1 tablespoon Yacon (like syrup)
  • 1½ teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Squirt, Agave (generous)
  • 6 drops SweetLeaf Liquid Stevia - Chocolate Flavor
  • dash Cinnamon
  • 2 cups Nut Milk (I used Macadamia/Almond), Use more or less depending upon consistency desired.
  • 1 Handful, Macadamia Nuts
  • 4 Ice cubes, or more
  • dash Nutmeg

Preparation

Place all ingredients into a blender (except the ice). Blend on high till well mixed, then add ice. Blend again on high until smooth and frothy. Pour into your favorite glass and add a sprig of mint, or you can add raw chocolate sauce. It’s very yummy and very satisfying…and it makes you feel real good!

I’m so glad you like it. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family and I do. We use to be major Starbuck’s drinkers. I drank so much of it, I should have owned stock in Starbuck’s instead. LOL

My understanding is that Fo-Ti, also known as Ho Shou Wu, has similar properties to that of ginseng. Fo-Ti is one of China’s great four herbal tonics. You can read more about by visiting http://www.therootofthematter.ca/, which is a site I just found that explains about the various roots and their healthy properties. Enjoy!

Did you buy it from a health food store or did you have to order it special?

If you are talking about the Fo-Ti, I did purchase it online through www.iherb.com. However, it very well may be at a local health food store. You may want to check there first. I’m a big web shopper. I do a lot of my shopping online…Good luck, I hope you are able to find it soon so you can make the recipe complete! :)

they sell the FO-TI at Jimbo’s in san diego. it’s like a whole foods type grocery store. Maybe check at Henry’s or Sprouts if you have one of those near you.

Thanks for the info. If I can find it locally, I won’t have to order it online anymore. I’ll have to look again when I’m at Sprouts this week.

I just bought a bottle of Fo-Ti today. It was 7.49 and is made by solray. I know a lot of stores carry this brand so even if they don’t stock it, they should be able to special order it!

Does the fo-ti add to the flavour or is it there for energy? Can I leave it out?

This sounds delish! One question, though, what size is the “scoop” you used for the carob powder?

Sorry for not responding sooner. The scoop size is a tad over 2 Tablespoons.
