Serves 1-2

My version of ‘mock’ tuna. I’m not convinced that anyone would mistake it for the real thing, but it’s still quite tasty.

You can read my blog post on this recipe here:

http://www.vegannosaurus.com/2007/11/11/phoney-fish/

Ingredients

  • 3 green onions
  • 1½ stalks of celery
  • 1 cup sprouted sunflower seeds
  • 3 teaspoons nama shoyu
  • ⅛ cup lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ¼ cup dulse
  • cayenne, to taste

Preparation

Soak the dulse in water for about 10 minutes. Drain the dulse and blend with other ingredients in a food processor. It’s that simple. I sometimes make this recipe with 1 Tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in place of the 1/8 cup of lemon juice. Both recipes are equally delicious.

This sounds so great, and I have to find a way to use my sea salad mixed algae which I am not crazy about but know is good for me so thanks!

Ay! This is my lazy version of tuna, except that I add carrot/celery pulp after I’m doing juicing (and a few apples and kale too!) I honestly don’t remember what tuna tastes like, but this is a nice alternative.
