Black and green smoothie
Makes one big smoothie
This is delicious and packs a lot of nutrients! It has 25% of your daily intake of calcium, 35% of your iron, 30% of your magnesium and lots and lots more. It gave me a huge energy rush I was told by my manager to sustain myself.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons Black sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon Cacao nibs
- 2 Medjool dates, (Or less, this was very sweet)
- ½ cup Spring water
- 3 Small bananas
- ½ teaspoon Maca, (I used a little bit more, however much you'd normally use)
- 1 cup Greens of choice, I used baby mix
Preparation
Blend up in the following order (Or whatever order will work for you of course): 1. Sesame, cacao, dates, water 2. Bananas, maca 3. Greens 4. Enjoy!

That’s a great idea cacao and black sesame seeds. Thanks for the nutrition info- that’s great! What happened with your manager?

Hehe, I was in such a chipper mood, I was being a little cocky and annoyed her a bit. But I explained I was just happy and she calmed down. It was all just funny.

What kind of maca did you buy? Is it a big canister and does it have a lot of different nutrients in it? I need to buy some but they don’t sell it near my moms house where I am dog sitting right now. I will probably be going out of town next week back to Arizona so I can’t really order anything right now. Looks good!

I got the Navita kind… It comes in a bag. I believe they all have lots of nutrients… Not much of what is in this smoothie would be from the maca, I think it’s the black sesame that deserves all the praise.

YUM-MY! Definitely the most soul satisfying green smoothie I’ve ever tasted. I did mine with kale and it turned out good too. Thanks for the inspiration Morning theft!

This is fantastic. It took me a few sips to get used to the texture and the taste but now I’m hooked. Any the added bonus….I had piles of energy for the morning. Thanks very much – this will be a regular for sure.

i don’t have maca right now, would this recipe still work without it?
Morning_theft writes: (March 22, 2008)
Of course, it’s mostly for supplementing, not for flavour…

I was so surprised with the flavour of this! I was really expecting it to taste like a green smoothie, but…it tasted chocolate-y (from the nibs)! It was very thick, too, and I adore thick smoothies right now, so it was right up my alley! Had it for breakfast. And maca is great for smoothies—what a superfood.

Can one use unhulled black sesame seeds? I can’t find any hulled on internet.

I would only use unhulled and I’ve never heard of otherwise.
