Zing Thins
Servings:
Good and Plenty!

Crackers with Zing! Love these!

Hi! I got the inspiration for this recipe from the No-Wheat thins recipe on this site by smidbrod. I just couldn’t help doctoring them up so here is the new concoction.

Ingredients:

1 cup almond meal
1 cup flax meal
¼ cup black sesame seeds
1 tablespoon ginger
1 red pepper (garnish)
1 zuccini (garnish)
2 cup water
¼ cup grated carrot

Preparation:

Blend chopped fresh ginger in blender to get it more fine if using fresh ginger. Add water and sesame seeds, carrot, flax and almond meal in blender. It’s better to add a cup of the water first and then add half of the flax and almond meal in for easier blending.

These are pretty spicey so only use a teaspoon of ginger if you don’t love a real gingery taste. It also made me think these would be great giinger cookies if you added sweetener!

First I started out by putting blobs of dough on the dehydrator. Then I wanted to get a little more creative and I put the dough in a plastic bag and cut the tip off. I then made heart and circles with the dough. If you make hearts they look kind of like pretzels- especially if you put some sea salt on them that has bigger grains.

On the circles I pressed a slice of zucchini, and I also did them the other way around with a dollop on a piece of zuccini topped with red pepper. Top some with black sesame seeds. The “zuccini press” makes the dough a lot easier to flatten out!

I tried some of these this morning and the crackers were almost done after about 14 hours. The other ones (Zuccini on bottom)were a lot softer and could be eaten like “sausage” – warm in the morning.

Have fun with this! Great for friends and parties!

Hi envirogenny! I was suprised to find them at the local Whole Foods here hand packed in those plastic containers they have in the bulk section. They weren't too expensive. I used them in everything. I'm on my second pack now!

That was my first recipe I posted, the Wheat thins and I am so glad to see you added ginger, I Love ginger but never thought to add it to crackers, can't wait to try it. I have been raw for a while and just discovered this site...what a huge help so many ideas and great recipes, and great people. I once added pinapple and coconut to the basic batter and it was fantastic, created a hawiian pizza with it.
