Tropical Suburban Summer Smoothie

Tropical Suburban Summer Smoothie
Servings:
32 ounces

Tropical because of the fruit. Suburban Summer, because the blended greens give the refreshing smell of freshly cut grass in the summer in the ‘burbs. (I don’t ever get that aroma in the city!)

I have been experimenting with green smoothies, and trying to move past just using spinach. At Trader Joe’s I found in a bag, already washed and cut, ready to use “Southern Greens” that includes collard greens, turnip greens, mustard greens, and spinach. I also got a variety of organic frozen fruit… makes smoothies quick and easy!!

Ingredients:

1 large handful mixed greens
1 banana
1 cup frozen mango chunks
2 cup pineapple juice
6 ice cubes

Preparation:

Measurements are approximate. Put about 6 ice cubes in the blender followed by a large handful of the mixed “Southern Greens.” Then add 1 banana, about a cup of frozen mango chunks, then pour pineapple juice on top. I pour the juice up to about the 2 cup line on the blender, but it is probably less than 2 cups since there is ice and other ingredients in there as well. Then as it is blending, I add a little more pineapple juice for consistency.

Smells and tastes wonderful!! Enjoy!

I'm glad you liked it. This is my favorite! I make some version of this many mornings! Sometimes I will use whole pineapple and then a little fresh squeezed oj (or even just a few clementines) in lieu of pineapple juice.

I tried this for breakfast this morning. Delicious! VERY cold (so maybe it wasn't wise of me to do this in the middle of winter ><, I was shivering afterwards), but a wonderful flavour. I would go for the sweet, sugary fruit smoothie before a green smoothie any day, so this is a wonderful way to get some greens AND immensly enjoy it! Lovely colour, lovely texture, lovely flavour...
