This is a variation of the berry nut breakfast bars in Matt Amsden’s “Rawvolution”. My boyfriend wanted to pack them with some super foods. They are a handy, on-the-go, breakfast – and a nutritional powerhouse. So easy to make! Variations of this are infinite. I want to try some apple cinnamon ones, and banana walnut! These things are filling, and perfect for my busy work schedule. I just pop one in my purse in the morning, and go!

Ingredients:

3 cup Raw Nuts
2 tablespoon Spirulina
3 tablespoon Raw Cacao Nibs (or powder)
3 tablespoon Maca Root Powder
2 tablespoon Yucon Syrup
3 tablespoon Agave Nectar
1 cup Goji Berries
4 cup Strawberries

Preparation:

I take whatever nuts I am using – really any raw nuts are fine – I like a combination of almond and walnut, but you can really use whatever you have. I put the nuts and cacao in the food processor until coursely ground. I place the nuts in a large mixing bowl and add all of the other ingredients except the strawberries. I then put the strawberries in the food processor (or blender) and thouroughly liquefy. I pour the fruit in the mixing bowl and combine well. I spread over teflex sheets and place in the dehydrator from 12 hours. After 12 hours, I flip them over and dehydrate for another 12 hours. When finished, I cut into individual squares, and individually wrap in saran wrap. That’s it!

Are these chewy or crunchy when they're done? Also, what is Maca root and is there a substitute? Looks delicious! Can't wait to make it...

Thanks for posting this recipe. I couldn't get my hands on any Strawberries straight away, so i just used some Apricots that we had frozen in the summer with some spices and even a non-raw friend loved them! Not only great tasting, but also packed with healthy things- always a winning combination.

In this batch, mostly the cacao and nuts. I can not taste the spirulina at all - the cacao covers it well.

This sounds great. Does any one flavor dominate? Can you taste the spirulina?
