Recipe Directions

1. Grind hemp seeds and coconut flakes in a coffee grinder, together or separately.

2. Mix all ingredients in large bowl.

3. Place in silicone cube trays, ice cube trays, or baking pan. Press mixture down like you would traditional Rice Krispies.

4. Place in freezer to set for about an hour before enjoying. Cut (or pop out of trays) and enjoy! Keep them stored in the freezer.

Rawleen's Thoughts

By rawleen

Growing up on Rice Krispies, I’ve had the craving for a raw substitute.

Once I started experimenting with Buckwheaties, I fell in love. My non-raw hubby loves these so much they keep disappearing after I make them!

Note: “Buckwheaties” are raw buckwheat seeds that has been soaked for 8 hours (I believe) and then dehydrated overnight or until desired “crunchiness.”

Variation for Cocoa Krispies, add 1/2 cup cacao nibs and 1/2 cup cacao powder

Happy Krisping!

Coconut butter is made from the whole coconut meat, not just oil. It is richer and creamier than coconut oil.

What's the difference between coconut oil and coconut butter? Isn't coconut oil melted coconut butter?

Buckwheat is what gives it the crispy touch. I don't know what else except maybe some dehydrated fruits or something like that would work.

I can't eat buckwheat but this sounds fabulous, do you happen to know of a good replacement for buckwheat?

Those two ingredients are optional. Mountain Rose Herbs sells the Marshmallow Root Powder. Not a noticeable difference if you don't include them. Enjoy!

i am putting my buckwheat in to soak as soon as i get home!

does the marshmallow root powder make a difference? i've never seen it anywhere and have been avoiding spending the money on Lucama but may just cave in.
