These are the tastiest, healthiest, most awesome brownies ever. Try frosting them with any raw frosting recipe you have, or add raw caramel, cinnamon, mix in any dried berries, etc. This is a great base recipe that you can play with, plus they are amazing on their own.

I made these tonight, finally, and they were sooooo good! It opened me up to something I had never tried before: dates. As a recent convert to raw veganism, these just make me realize how much I'm going to enjoy this new lifetime commitment.

I made these for a work potluck. Nobody knew they were vegan or raw. and they were gone VERY quickly. I am curious to know what you mixed into these. is it a sweet cashew cream?

oh, and I didn't have pecans, so I used walnuts

Thank you for sharing!

LOL LeahG - you're posting on a VEGAN RAW site. What in the world is vegan OR raw about any of the below?! Methinks you majorly missed the point...

5. I have this recipe to add

Submitted by LeahG on October 4, 2009 - 12:25am.

I have this recipe to add that I learned when I was in intervention class:

1. Fudgy Brownies- Bake only until a wooden toothpick inserted about one inch from side of pan comes out with a moist crumb. The center of the brownie will often seem unbaked but it will be firm upon cooling.
2. Extra Fudgy – Cool the brownie for only 15 minutes then cover it with aluminum foil and refrigerate.
3. Chewy brownie- Bake until wooden toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Whatever your preference on the texture of the brownies now depends on your baking time.
There are tons of recipes on brownies out there but here’s a simple recipe that I often bake:

Ingredients
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 1oz squares unsweetened chocolate, melted **
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup chopped walnuts.

** Note- 1 square unsweetened chocolate is equal to 3 tablespoon cocoa plus 1 tablespoon fat

Procedure
1. Cream butter and sugar.
2. Beat in eggs
3. Blend in chocolate, vanilla and flour.
4. Add walnuts.
5. Bake in greased 8 x 8 x 2 inches pan at 325 F about 35 minutes. (Baking time will depend on the desired texture of brownies )
6. Cut into 16 squares.

This is a very delectable treat! Trust me :)

thank you raw food punk for all the great ideas. i like the vanilla creme topping idea. i was going to try it, but the brownies were so delicious on their own!
i liked the ratios. i changed it a little. i did:
2 cups almonds
1.5 cups pecans
2.5 cups dates
.5 cup goji berries soaked
3 tsp vanilla bean
3 tbs agave
1 cup coco powder
1/4 cup coconut ganja oil (1/8)
bottom of pan has coconut shreds. topped with cinnamon.
my blendtec couldnt handle it after awhile. what can i say, it was a hand me down.

Thank you for the information and also doing the math. I'm on Weight Watchers and getting into healthier meals, but I still have a sweet tooth.

11. I'm sorry I didn't add those

Submitted by Raw Food Punk on May 1, 2009 - 8:42am.

I'm sorry I didn't add those specifics! i believe I used a 9x11 brownie pan, but any size will do, depends on the thickness you want. Plus since they are basically already the thickness you need, you can mold them into half a pan if you would like. I do not know the calorie per serving count, I haven't even begun to think about figuring that out for my recipes. There's 2 cups of nuts in the whole thing so if you cut them to make 16 brownies thats only about an 1/8 cup of pecans per brownie, right? Not too bad at all!

Submitted by silystarrfish on April 30, 2009 - 10:23pm.

oh my gosh. I've been putting off looking at this recipe because I knew I would just crave brownies (my ultimate weakness, in fact, I would probably be willing to sell my soul for a good pan of brownies).
The picture looks absolutely sinful. I can't wait to try them.

14. Hey Joanna! I have actually

Submitted by Raw Food Punk on April 30, 2009 - 9:56pm.

Hey Joanna! I have actually done lots of different versions. I did some with raw caramel drizzle, some with goji berries mixed in, some with cinnamon mixed in, and some with a coconut frosting that I found online. I think that's all I've done so far, all were awesome! Try 'em out, let me know how it goes!
