Recipe Directions

1. Soak oat groats overnight. Sprout for about 12 hours or longer if you want. Just drain and rinse in the morning and again that night. Mine haven’t really grown much yet, but I couldn’t wait to eat them!

2. Mix all dry ingredients plus sweetener of your choice (the agave/honey/date) together in a bowl.

3. Add nanamilk/nutmilk and mix thoroughly.

4. Let stand a few minutes for all the goodies to mesh and love up on each other. They’re having a little orgy of tastiness in that bowl!

This is a great transitional recipe!

I always loved oatmeal, especially Scottish style oats. Soaked oat groats are even better! And cheaper--$1.89 a pound in bulk at Whole Foods.

This recipe is so quick and easy to make if you’ve got the oats soaked and sprouted already.

It’s incredibly versatile too. Switch up your fruit: apples would be great, mangoes for some tropical love!

Have fun with your spices, ginger would be great with mango, I bet! Really all you need are the soaked oat groats, and you can be creative from there.

All measurements are approximate as I just threw this together. It’s quite sweet as I made it, so feel free to omit the sweeter ingredients if you like.

I was raised in an Italian cooking culture, so everything is really done to taste.

Sorry about the random pic. My cam isn’t working.

Are they steamed? I didn't know! I didn't notice anything on the bulk bin about it. I meant more "let sit and rinse a few times" by sprout. The didn't actually grow tails, but they did swell, and I thought the germ on the grains swelled a little but maybe not. Sorry if this isn't raw then, but it was tasty!

Wheat berries or buckwheat groats especially would be a great substitute!

I've found a place that claims to have really raw rolled oats that aren't steamed. I might try them! http://www.goldminenaturalfood.com/detail.aspx?ID=77 They also sell whole oats they say are raw so I might get those first and see if they sprout.

Wow, your oat groats sprout?! I thought all oats products were supposed to be steamed. Does it just say oat groats on the bulk bin? This sounds awesome by the way!
