Mean Green Smoothie
Submitted by Caleb on October 14, 2008 - 8:37am
Servings:
1.5 PintsI found the celery taste a little strong though, even after adding a few drops of stevia, but the granny smith apples gave it some punch! This was the first green smoothie I have made with banana that was not overpowered by just that flavor.
Ingredients:
1 Banana, Peel and chope up a bit
1 Granny Smith Apple, Core and chope up (leave skin on)
1 Hand full of
spinach
1 Stalk of celery, cut up into a few pieces
1 cup Water or your favorite mylk
Preparation:
Throw it all in a blender and put in the water or mylk (or both) to get it going. Serve as is or chill for better taste (in my opinion).

This looks great!! I have a green smoothie every morning with apple, frozen banana, pineapple (or other fruit I happen to have), spinach, kale and/or romaine. Never occured to me to add celery. I'm going to give it a try tomorrow!!

I haven't noticed that. I don't get celery a whole lot, but it seemed pretty strong in my opinion especially since it was only one stalk and I usually eat celery with a nut butter or pate of some sort, and never have a problem.

Caleb, do you find that some celery is very much stronger than others? I don't know if my taste has changed or what, but I have not had a mild sweet/salty celery in ages. I only get organic now and wonder if that makes a difference?

Grrr, I wasn't typing well when I posted this. Sorry for the misspellings.
