I <3 the pink flesh guava but so far i can only find white. :( Sometimes i can find the pink one later in season. This recipe would work with both.
Lucuma is awesome. There really is no substitute because it adds a warm sweet mapley-flavour, thickens the smoothie, but contains beta-carotene & iron. Amazon.com and a few other places online sell the dried raw powdered lucuma. Totally worth it. I think there is another recipe in the database that uses lucuma to make a smoothie that tastes like "fruity pebbles". Barring that, you could try the recipe without the lucuma.

I haven't tried this yet but I'm excited to, as guavas are just coming back into season where I live. I have a question, kitsune: are you using the pinkish guava or the white? I can only get the white kind. And I don't have lucuma and have never tasted it, so could you recommend a decent substitute?
