Groatzo Burger
A hearty, tasty burger with a mildly sweet/spice flavor. A perfect match with Kandace’s onion bread & a lemon mayo.
1 cup Chickpeas, That have been soaked overnight
1 cup Sprouted Oat Groats
1 tablespoon Nutritional
Yeast
1 tablespoon Minced Leek
½ cup Shredded Carrot
2 tablespoon Soaked Raw Pepitas
2 tablespoon Minced Fresh
Basil
1 tablespoon Bragg's Sprinkle (or other dried herbs)
2 pinch Cayenne Pepper
¼ teaspoon Real Salt
1 Date, Soaked in warm
water
1 clove Garlic (minced)
Grind chickpeas and groats in processor until it becomes a nice paste. Add all other ingredients and process until fully combined. Spoon out 5 equal blobs onto teflex sheet and press into patty shapes. Dehydrate @ 145 Degrees for two hours then turn down to 115 Degrees and DH for another 2 hours. Next, flip the patties and continue DH for the final 2 hours. (6 hours DH total)I know some people don’t like to DH at that temp. but according to Excalibur the food temp. won’t actually reach 145 for the first two hours.

Spike seasoning is good and Natalia Rose recommends it in her book - it's just a bunch of dried spices. It's a good replacement for the braggs... But, read the label b/c i just bought more of the regular and while i was there, i read the 2 other Spike seasonings and they contained things that i wasn't sure about it being raw... I hope that helps, Angie!

AlyssaDane: this really is yummy. My 3 yr. old loved it and he's a bit picky, and also my non-raw hubby said it was a keeper. Angie: The Bragg's sprinkle has about 30 different herbs in it which I think adds to the complexity of this burger. If I were to pick a couple of herbs in replacement I'd have to say a bit each of coriander, ginger, & thyme...and maybe a dash of raw soya. Also what I think is key to this burger is serving it with the onion bread, since there is no onion in the recipe. Enjoy!

Just by reading the ingredients I know this is going to be fantastic. Thanks very much.

This burger looks amazing. We have been trying to find a good burger recipe - I haven't liked most of the ones we've tried.
