Fried Rice
This rice is as close as you’ll come to real fried rice. It’s got the right balance of mouth feel and taste, and it was a winner here at the house, even with Mr. Picky. You’ll find this serves 3 VERY generously, or four, with a side dish. Feel free to serve it very cold as a salad, or slightly warm, as I’ve suggested, for an authentic Fried Rice.
1 Head of Cauliflower
1 ten ounce package peas, thawed, or fresh peas
2 tablespoon
onion
2 clove garlic
¼ cup cilantro or flat leafed parsley
1 inch of lemongrass
3 tablespoon olive oil
a
drizzle of sesame oil, optional
2 teaspoon ginger, grated
nama shoyu, Braggs, or gf tamari
1 cup hulled sunflower seeds
In the bowl of your food processor, pulse cauliflower into ‘rice’ and place in a bowl.
In the FP, pulse the onion, garlic, lemongrass, and cilantro or parsley until finely minced. Place in bowl.
Place peas in bowl. Stir all ingredients together.
Drizzle with oils and nama shoyu. Stir in sunflower seeds.
Heat on very low heat ina saucepan, stirring contstantly until just warm to the touch, or place in dehydrator for 30 minutes.

this was very good. i put in too much parsley so it was a little "green", but the recipe was fast and easy and it was a filling and very tasty meal.
2.
i thought frozen peas were cooked.

ok, i just used 1T of tamari. it is good but was better immediately when it was finished. now that it has had time to sit and the flavors have blended it has a slight fermented/alcohol-ish taste. i didnt use lemongrass or garlic (im garlic'ed out). any ideas?
4.
how much nama shoyu?

Ana (my wife) made this today for lunch, but she changed something. I think that she added carrots, walnuts and sunflower seeds to the FP with the onion and the other ingredients. It tasted really good, almost like real rice!!

this is perfect.

I think i processed my cauliflower too much :( It didn't turn out as good as I had hoped - it still had a good flavor b/c of the lemongrass and cilantro. I'll have to look for asian spices and try it again!

Tasty! We only had dried cilantro and parsley, but it was still great. We'll be making it again with fresh herbs soon.

Tasted great! Didn't have sesame seeds but it still turned out. I used fresh peas and loved the extra little crispness of it.

This was VERY good. I didn't have ginger or lemongrass and it still turned out great. I would reccommend it to anyone!

What a lovely looking dish! I miss Chinese food on the raw food diet, so I've been trying to develop more Chinese entrees. :)
