Dog Treats

This is an outrageously simply recipe (if it can be called a recipe) that costs a ton if you buy it from a pet store. These are much fresher and in your temperature control to assure your pet is getting top quality enzymes by doing it yourself. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

5 pound Sweet Potatoes , Wash, slice, Don't Peel!

Preparation:

The quantity is really as much as you want. A few big potatoes are enough to fill up a 4 tray dehydrator.

Wash the spuds and then slice length wise. Don’t be afraid to go thick (within reason). You’ll be surprised how thin they get. Good for you if you have a hand or machine slicer but I did mine with a super sharp knife and it wasn’t too bad. Feel free to cut how you wish if you don’t have the patience. Rounds would work out well. The bigger the spud the better.

I sliced mine thin so it only took over night to dehydrate. I put them in, spread evenly over the trays of my excaliber dehydrator, and set the temp at 145 for 2 hours (can go up to three). Then I turned it down to 115 degrees and less even as time progressed.

These really aren’t much fuss and all three of my dogs at the house absolutely go crazy over these. I am always trying to find ways to include enzymes into my vegan dogs diet through raw foods and these are perfect, practical and travel ready. They also wont stain your carpet. So good.

If dogs hadn't been domesticated, changed to look and act differently from wild dogs and become a huge factor in factory farming (pet food) then of course not. Dogs are, however, omnivorous. Because of this they can survive and do very well on a vegan diet. There was a study of over 300 vegan dogs and because of the very harmful crap that is in packaged dog food (Styrofoam, other dog and cat, chemicals) these dog's health are much, much better than non-vegan dogs. You can look up the study online. I feel there is enough info out there for me to feed my dog a vegan diet (and I actually make her fod fresh) and have her live longer than most other dogs. Vegan dogs typically do and without cancer and many other health problems. I also personally know about a dozen vegan dogs and 3 of them are over the age 11 and look and act much younger than they are. I am in the business of dogs and can tell you that if I didn't personally know my dog was going to be in better health because of this diet I would not have adopted a dog. It is one of the reasons I wont allow myself to adopt a cat. They are carnivorous and too many of they get sick on a vegan diet for me to believe it is acceptable for them. I hope I answered your question well enough.

Thanks so much!!! I'm also trying to incorporate raw foods into my (4) dogs/cat(1) 's diet. Less $$$$ is good with the pack we have at home :)

What an excellent idea. How ironic I find your post as I am preparing to write a post regarding holistic foods for our animals. I appreciate all animals and currently have two cats. I will make this recipe for my furry friends to enjoy. Thanks for the post.
