I have been drying them for 12 hours now and they are still not dry (maybe half way) and I used roma tomatoes. Why are mine taking so long?? I'll just keep drying them until done, maybe my tomatoes where bigger than normal.

RCBAlive, if you slice the tomatoes maybe 1/4" thick or less, they will come out paper thin and won't break your teeth. Also would be easy to grind into power that way.
I've tried a few of times to dehydrate my tomatoes, but they never looked or tasted like the sun dried ones. Now I know how to do them, and just in time for harvest :) Thank you!
I also do as Jenoz, dehydrate some tomatoes until crispy (I like to add a few slices of garlic and onions and fresh herbs to dehydrate with the tomatoes) then I grind everything in my coffee mill. Especially good on zucchini pasta with olive oil :)

Great idea jenoz. When you say dry until crispy, do you mean until they are break your teeth if you chew on them hard? I am definitely interested in making the powder.

You can also dry them until they're crispy and then grind them to a powder in a high-speed blender. The powder is convenient to add to ANYTHING for extra flavor and nutrition!
