Servings:
2-4Once again, I was trying to find a way to get my daughter to eat fruit in a form other than leather... She didn't like it, but my babysitter took them home and shared with all her roomates.
Ingredients:
2 large apples, any color
(I used fuji but variety is the spice of life)
1 tsp
cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla powder
2 tbsp lemon juice or fresh fruit juice
(I am going to try it again with a little agave or honey coating, to see if it candies it-yum)
Preparation:
Core and slice the apples into 8 pieces.
(I originally cut each into 3 but they were too thin and more like chips)
Put slices in
a large bag and toss to coat with juice. Add spices and toss.
Lay on dehydrator (with air circulating, not a teflex sheet) and dehydrate 3-6 hours until warm, soft and sweet.

Oh yeah, when I read "baked apples" this reminds me of Cherie Soria's Apple Baklava dessert. Yummm!!!! It tastes cooked without dehydrating!

Vanilla powder-ah,heaven on earth. Powdered vanilla bean, basically. I have bought it from mountain rose herbs and living tree community, both fantastic sites. Not sweet but very fragrant and makes everything better-especially cookies and smoothies!

These sound great. My son needs dehydrated fruit for winter camping and he says plain dried apples taste like cardboard. Let's see how he likes these.
