apple ants on a log
sO fun!easy. tasty.great snack.perfect for kids!
4 celery stalks
2 apples
30 raisins
this is a fun recipe. mom used to make using peanut butter instead of the apple pulp for an after school snack..providing the inspiration…
cut and wash the celery pieces, cutting each in half creating 8 “logs” of celery. juice the apples, they can be any kind that you fancy, however i recommend using a sweet variety. use the pulp left from the apples and fill each log of celery. you may include the large apple skin bits depends on your taste preference. (drink the juice, or put in a popsicle mold for later) basically, you want enough apple pulp to fill each piece of celery you cut, so depending on the size of the apple, you might need to improvise. place raisins on top of the apple delight in a straight line on top of the log… and whaLLaH! edible. friendly. ants on a log! enjoy.

What a great idea! Nice no nuts twist on a childhood favourite.
cherie03: I put lemon juice when I make raw applesauce, to prevent it from browning. I imagine it'd work here, as well as adding another flavour dimension.

Sorry to bug you again. Do you put lemon juice in the apple pulp to keep it from turning brown in case they are not eaten immediately?

This is very nice - no nuts!!!! You could call it Waldorf Ants on a Log. It has most of the Waldorf Salad ingredients.
