US farmers aren't allowed to grow hemp - the whole marijuana issue, I guess the government wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the marijuana plants and the other hemp varieties? My health food store sells the hemp seeds, though. I found some Lucuma powder online, but it doesn't say it's raw. I am ordering some anyway. Thanks for the recipe

Hi there, I use hemp hearts which are hulled hemp seeds and sometimes also hemp seeds in their original state. I am from Canada, i wasn't aware that hemp hearts aren't common in the US. I forgot a main ingredient! Soaked arame seaweed. I just mix all these ingredients together in a bowl and make a salad type mixture. I use enough oil to get a nice consitancy, not to dry. Sometimes it's hard to get the coconut oil to mix in evenly in the salad so I might just put it on in chunks. Another really nice touch to this salad if you can can get this where you are is Lacuma powder and/or mesquite powder. They are low glycemic sweetners with really nice tastes. The lacuma powder comes form the lacuma fruit. Also you can use Yacon syrup for an alternative to the honey if you want low glycemic version. But I still think honey is so good for you. They say it's the highest vibrational food in nature... all the best and enjoy! Oh yeah and if you ever get your hands on marine phyto-planktin powder, try sprinkling that on the salad! powerful stuff! also powderd cordyceps also is a nice touch!

I eat hemp seeds, but I never heard them called hearts. I order them online and they come from Canada. I buy Nutiva brand.

hemp hearts are shelled hemp seeds. I don't know about the US, but you can get them in Canada, and probably order them from Canada.

You must not be in the USA. Where do you get hemp hearts and what do they look like?
I'm guessing that this is blended and poured over greens. Right?
