Alkaline Creamylicous Smoothie (or soup)
Servings:
Approximately 1 large (16 oz) smoothie

This is my very first green smoothie!!! I am still having trouble getting down green juices and also needed something more filling so this is great for beginners like me who’d like to have a “green drink” in the morning!

I used to LOVE sauteed spinach with lemon, garlic and topped with almonds (well..I am transitioning so still do ;). Here is a version I made in a blender and added cucumber, avocado (my favorite food), and an apple to sweeten (I used granny smith for color but you can use another one for more sweetness). With the exception of the apple, this smoothie combines all alkalizing foods and makes a delicious filling smoothie. Just make sure you have breath mints if ya drink this away from home due to the garlic ;)

Ingredients:

handful spinach
1/2 cucumber
1 ripe avocado
2 cloves garlic
juice from one lemon
1 apple
1 cup water
handful raw sprouted almonds

Preparation:

Add all ingredients to blender and wala!!! This is so creamy, it can also be eaten as a soup. I just sipped it through a straw but will use less water next time and eat it as soup. Enjoy!

i love garlic and onions...do raw foodists not believe in non dairy probiotics to keep good bacteria in check?? I'd be ridden with yeast without them and will continue to take them ;)

Oh..i made this again with less water and ate it as soup,,,much better!! I was quick to knock this recipe because it was my first and i was self conscious ;) but it WAS yummy soup ;)

I dont think that its that raw foodists dont like garlic, some people , raw or not, dont eat garlic or onions as they are antibacterial and some worry that that may also kill the good bacteria in our bodies, also for some the taste of raw onion or garlic may be too acrid and burning, personally i eat both but prefer to marinade them or use them as part of a marinade to tame the burn.

i just read somewhere raw foodists don't like garlic...is this true?? well, if so, i'd have to deviate from the norm here ;)

it was my first smoothie..not as good as others maybe, but good enough for me to get down and enjoy. Actually, my husband had some and ate it more like a creamy soup.
