My sister gave me a Digital Camera for Christmas 3 years ago and I actually used it for all the photos in my book RAW IN TEN MINUTES, website and all my new photos. But it finally broke or gave out and until I can get a new camera or fix it I can’t post new recipes that I invent everyday. So I am posting recipes and photos from my first raw organic recipe book I hope you enjoy this fun simple easy one my Raw Organic Baklava! I am not sure if you can use dates in this as I have not tried but I use really raw agave some people say agave is not really raw but I found once source that really is and they are able to supress the fermentation process naturally but this one source I have really is raw you can tell by the clear sappy nature but amazing nectar and high energy taste and vibe. I hope you enjoy this recipe, kids love it and it is safe for them to help you make it, I invented totally raw organic versions of all my favorite junk and cooked foods so that I can enjoy all natural raw organic healthy foods and want to share them with you, the raw community is about love, laughter, sharing so enjoy!
1 Fuji Apple, Sliced very thin with ceramic mandolin, peeler or knife
1 cup Sunflower Seeds or Pistachios, Ground in Blendtec Blender
2 tablespoon Really Raw Agave
I recommend using Ceramic Peeler or Ceramic Knife for this recipe because it will keep the apples fresher longer otherwise they will oxidize and wilt very quickly if you use metal knives. So make really thin slices of Fuji Apples, you can also use Gala Apples or Asian Pear Apples for a more gourmet flavor. Place very thin slices on a plate.
I recommend the Blendtec Blender for this recipe because it will be able to grind the sunflower seeds or pistachio nuts into the perfect sand like size, I don’t know of other equipment or ways to do it so if you have alternative ways then go for it otherwise place the sunflower seeds or pistachio nuts in the Blendtec Blender and blend until it grinds it into very fine sand like powder, you can make it larger sizes for more crunch if you like too. Pour this into a large mixing bowl. Then add really raw agave and stir by hand until well coated and mixed. Use this mixture and use a spoon or your hands to put in between the thin apple slices. You can then cut it into traditional square or diamond Baklava Shapes and serve! To improve this sprinkle some organic cinnamon inside, on top and drizzle with a little more agave on top but this is optional but will really improve the flavor. Also this recipe demonstrates how in some recipes agave is necessary and dates probably won’t work in this one. I will post a few more photos and recipes from my 1st book and hope you enjoy them! :D
In the photo I actually held the plate in one hand and took the photo with the other! This is a new “floating food” style of photography I came up with for fun, many people asked me if I photoshopped my photos and I did not and this is with the camera my Sister gave to me as a present I wish it did not give out on me recently! Also my tip is to take photos outdoors in the sun, this gives food an amazing photographic quality try it! This photo was in San Francisco in Golden Gate Park at the Conservatory of Flowers I thought it looked cool as the background. I have since came up with a new style of food photography where it is more on an extreme close up but still done outside in the sun.
I have also tried other nuts like almonds, brazil nuts in this recipe but I found that sunflower seeds and pistachio tastes the best in this particular recipe.
I just added a new McRAW Photo Shopped graphic I just did recently, my goal is to open a National sort of “McRaw” nationwide or a RAW Franchise to be exact, heck if Jamba Juice and Starbucks can do it RAW CAN TOO! So lets RAWCK! :D Feel free to copy it, distribute, make stickers, t-shirts!
