1 large smoothie!

I have been craving oatmeal lately..so i made this smoothie. It was so delicious, when my husband had a taste, he asked me to make him one ;) You can make your own almond milk but I am a beginner so just used unsweetened almond milk (I know, maybe not totally raw but what I had on hand). You can even add ginger for a “ginger bready” taste. The almond butter made it really thick and I had to add a bit of water to thin it out. It could have been eaten with a spoon as a raw oatmeal but I made it into a smoothie since I had to leave the house. It was simply delicious!!

I am thinking you can probably thicken this into a “batter” and make them into oatmeal cookies ;)

Ingredients:

1/2 cup raw oats , soaked
1 cup almond milk- unsweetened
1 tbsp raw almond butter
1 ripe banana
2 medjol dates, soaked
handful raisins
cinnamon- approx 1 tsp
nutmeg
ginger (optional)

Preparation:

Soak oats and dates for a few hours for easier digestibility. Combine all ingredients in blender until creamy. If too thick, add water or almond milk. Top with more cinnamon.

Enjoy! ;)

(The pic is not of the actual smoothie, but it looks similiar)

This recipe has turned out to me one of my favorite. It's delicious and easy to make. Like most raw recipes, I just have to remember to give myself enough time to soak the oatmeal and dates (and I soak the raisins, too). Being that I have this drink almost everyday, I just wanted to come back and say thank you for the recipe. Anyone who loves oatmeal is sure to love this recipe.

actually...i THOUGHT i was using raw oats, but i wasn't.....so mine weren't but i think others have said they got raw oats on line. i'll do a check. i am new to raw so i often think of "raw" as uncooked, i.e. "raw oats" as opposed to cooking and making oatmeal, but i am now learning the process which oats and other grains go through, etc..but still better than eating a cholesterol fest bfast of bacon, eggs, and pancakes ;)
