beautiful summer breakfast

Ingredients:

3 fresh figs
3 blackberries
¼ cup raspberries
blueberries, as desired
fresh mint leaves
for balsamic glaze:
¼ cup date syrup, agave or honey works ,too
2 tablespoon balsamic vinegar, optional, not raw
or balsamic glaze substitute,at end of recipe

Preparation:

1.cut figs into 6 petals by making 3(“X”style) cuts across pointed top of fig, making sure not to cut all the way through.

2.place blackberry in center.

3.decorate plate as desired with berries and whole mint leaves.

4.mix syrup with vinegar, if using.

5.drizzle over plate.

6.sprinkle with chopped mint.

note:balsamic glaze is also awesome on strawberries.

raw substitute for balsamic glaze:combine equal parts blackberry juice(juice will be very thick),date syrup and braggs apple cider vinegar in bullet or blender, strain, keep in fridge in a squeeze bottle.

juice can be easily made by pressing berries through a mesh strainer with the back of a spoon or using a nut milk bag or paint strainer(no staining on the one i used!),or your juicer.

MMMM.. My fig tree here in Florida has an abundant crop on it this year, and i can't wait for them to get ripe.. I am blessed to live here and have Banana, fig, orange, and lemons in my back yard.. It is great. The only problem is the darn racoons and birds who love our figs as much as we do.Gotta beat them to the punch this year...We are watching them closely, and now i have a great recipe in the recipe bow waiting!..Thanks again.

That is so gorgeous, you could serve that in a restaurant.
It's winter and Australia and I miss figs so much. In summer I buy a big bag when I go shopping and they never last 24 hours. I really love what you have done with them here - so creative.

jeshuabrown, - Hi there -

I live in Iowa, too. In a small town. Kinda hard to get decent produce in the winters.

figs won't be in season for, at least a month, but this looks like it'll be great.
