Yoga Dvd

I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a good Yoga DVD. I’m an English speaker living in Germnay, so going to a class would only cause me frustration when I should be relaxing and concentrating as I would be spending most of my time trying to translate the instructions. I have had a look on amazon but am so confused as to what type to go with and which are best for beginners and intermediates. I am only aware of Iyengar and Hatha but have seen birkram (hopefully that’s how you spell it) mentioned quite a lot on the site.

Anyhow, If anyone has some recommendations for me, that would be absolutely wonderful. I am currently using a very basic Australian fitness/yoga DVD but am getting very bored with it.

  • My all time favorite DVD is Power Yoga Total Body with Rodney Yee. It is easy to follow and relaxing. Good luck!!!

i like that one too, Majomi and I think an absolute must for the novice through high level is Shiva Rae’s Yoga Shakti. You can chose 4 different workouts ranging from 30 min. to 90 min. In addition, once you get the different segments down, you can put together your own workout, depending on what your body is asking for, by clicking on the individual exercises—the DVD puts it together for you. It doesn’t take long to learn the Indian names for the exercises. I always reach for this one. You can get it at Amazon.

  • I like Baron Baptiste’s DVDs and I also recommend that you check out www.corepoweryoga.com. They have yoga on demand. They have more than 30 classes available, I think, that target all different levels and parts of your body (hip openers, balancing, etc.). You can do 1 week for free and then I think you can do monthly or $99 for the entire year. It is at least worth checking out for the free week!

  • Yoga Burn Rodney Yee

  • Thanks guys for all your suggestions. I will check out the titles today! I can’t wait to learn more positions and become more flexible.

    Another great one:

Kundalini Yoga for Beginners with Ana Brett and Ravi Singh.

Very spine oriented and also has the Tibetan Five Rites on it.

    Good stuff! Enjoy!
