Wild Animal & Cancer

I just wanted to show an article about the tazmanian devil (wild animal) getting cancer. They die within 6 months and face extinction. Most ‘disturbing’ part of the article, is the cancer spreads by biting from fights.

From the article: “Loss of genetic diversity in these genes just opens the door for emergence and rapid spread of new and old disease,”

So declining population of Tasmanian Devil, due to man’s interference with their natural habitat has caused this to now be a problem when it wasn’t before. This is our inteference in their habitat which has caused this, and not proof that animals in their natural state get cancer. As the loss in genetic diversity, is down to our increasing population in that area, and the knock on effects of that. As is seen over and over again throughout the world.

If we had not been there they wouldn’t be facing this disease and possible extinction.
