Lately I've been trying California prunes, mission figs, and apricots. I like the figs because they plump up in water in just a short amount of time and blend effortlessly.
Has anyone tried raisins?

I've used raisins and loved the result. Otherwise, I usually just use dates.
Raisins work very well in anything with chocolate. I use dates and figs too.
