Where do I go from here...

Hello-

I am new to this fourm but have been reading lots of old posts. I have liked the idea of raw for a while now, but would like point in the right direction. I know I have candida, and possibly parasites( my tushie itiches, but could also be candida) other reason for parasite assumption are, drinking tap water all growing up and my sister had parasites but never really did anything about them. Oh and I travel to Mexico every year and eat and drink the food. Anyhow, the less fat more fruit idea really makes since to me. But lots of the posts people have made about 80/10/10 diet never gave thier results as so resolving candida and parasites. Also is this diet one you do until in great health then to a wider range raw diet, or will the candida come back when you increase your fats again. I am coming from a strange place diet wise. I have cut all meat except chicken, but only eat it at last resort. I have never been big on dairy, ice cream is my only weakness and raw ice cream looks wonderful so I know I could be vegan. I have green smoothies a few times a week, but I only have a magic bullet so it can not even fully blend strawberries. I am very low on funds right now so my range of ingrediants are not so great. I have herd great things about water fasts, but is it to drastic to jump into that when I haven't even reached high raw yet. One reason why I haven't jumped into raw is I am afraid I will find some great recipes that would hard to give up with a more simple lifestyle. So I figure don't start making yummy gourmet raw and then turn my back on it a few weeks later. Any and all advice would be great. I will hopefully get dr graham book soon. Thanks agian

I know I have more questions but that is all I can think of right now.

  • I'm still new to 811 myself, but I can definitely answer one of your questions. The 811 diet is a diet for life, no changes at all needed later on down the road.

I would think going straight from a SAD diet into a water fast would be too much. I would clean up diet-wise and deal with any detox through that first.

I understand your confusion. There are just so many different raw philosophies and it can be hard to choose the right one. I say go with the one that is the most logical and appeals to reason. By far this is the 80/10/10 diet, or a high fruit, low fat raw vegan diet.

It's super easy to begin...just eat more fruit! You can go 100% from the beginning, or you can gradually replace your current food with sweet fruit (most people start by replacing breakfast with fruit, then lunch, and so on). Add some greens with your evening meal and maybe a small amount of fat and that's it!

I've been on a high fruit, low fat diet for 1.5 years now and I would never consider changing it. When you have the best, why bother with the rest? ;)

A "water fast" seems extreme and possibly dangerous to me too.

There are other philosophies aside from 80/10/10, and probably the only thing we all can agree on is: eat more raw foods.

If you don't want to jump into a fast, start eating a vegan diet... first... then a couple days before doing a fast, eat raw foods only. This should help.

Gourmet foods is nice... it is good transitional food, however, it does tend to be more work than simple foods. Mix it up. :o)

Also, if you notice you are detoxing "too quickly" with a water fast, then consider hot-cold showers, drink plenty of water... etc.

You could possibly do a grape feast... eat only grapes, grape juice, and raisins. The darker the better. Lakewood brand grape juice is best or make your own (but why if you can just eat them). Eat 1-4 pounds per day (see Grape Cure book). That's another way to cleanse w/o spending too much time preparing foods and it's more than a water fast. Consider doing this during grape season for cheaper grapes.

there is no way your candida will survive on 811. i highly recommend getting the book which will address every question you have and much more. i also recommend checking out the 811 forum at www.30bananasaday.com
