What recipes do you make most often?

Curious to know what other people have been eating regularly. I’m new to raw and have been making a lot of apple carrot ginger cinnamon juice and a simple dressing with ginger garlic lemon and dates. I’d like to find a better flavoring for flax seed crackers.

do you juice cinnamon? what kind of flavorings do you like? i like garam masala, chili, and cumin together. i also like to mince onion and parsley as a base for crackers. adding mushrooms to crackers gives them a little “jerky” flavor if you add chili and black pepper.

    some favorite recipes are:

    salads with slivered fennel bulbs,

zooodles (as coined by ardesmond—zucchini noodles) with tomato sauce and ground flax topping

spinach “curry” in lettuce leaves, or over cauliflower tabouleh

simple ones: plain old avocado with a spoon, eating a ripe mango with my hands.

dressings: #1 olive oil, garlic, lemon, cilantro and a little apple. #2 olive oil, sesame seeds, garlic, lemon and dill. #3 just tomato, water, and celery. #4 “the classic vinaigrette”: olive oil, lemon, apple cider vinegar, a little garlic, a little raw mustard.

i just use powdered cinnamon… according to the raw food list it said it’s raw. i suppose it’s probably just ground up and not heated.

well i think if i could get a hot sauce type flavoring that would be best. i’ve tried a few things: garam masala, soy sauce, lemon juice, nutritional yeast… none of them were that great so i’ll have to keep trying other recipes.

  • lately I have been making avocado sandwiches, they are really good in the afternoon. Otherwise I just have salad and green smoothies/green juices throughout the day. Oh and can’t forget my raw treats ( raw reese cups, ice cream, carrot cake) . I like a balance, I have never been into the hard core way of eating only energy soups, and sprouted beans. It just to boring and makes me feel like I have lost touch with myself. Oh yeah and love making zoodles and marinara. I have a butternut squash at home I am going to try to Zest into angle hair this evening.

    PEACE

i have a great recipe for flax crackers! 2 cups golden flax, soaking optional – it may help with digesting the whole flax crackers (if you soak in water for several hours, dry them in the dehydrator before mixing in the other ingredients)

—1.5 Tbsp chili powder —1.5 Tbsp paprika —1/2 tsp cumin —1/2 a jalapeno —1 tomato —1 clove garlic —1 inch slice of onion —2 Tbsp oregano or parsley or cilantro

mix all ingredients in a high speed blender. pour in a bowl. add the flax seeds to the bowl and mix with a spoon. pour in a very thin layer on two teflex sheets, dehydrate till crispy.

I just read the post that you want a hot sauce flavor: hot peppers, fresh garlic, fresh ginger, and some apple cider vinegar blended up make a good hot sauce. Then you can just put flax seeds in a bowl, add hot sauce & water to cover the flax seeds, let it soak for 30 minutes (but it won’t matter if you leave it longer, cuz the hot sauce isn’t going to go bad), spread on teflex (add more water if it’s too stiff to spread out) & dehydrate as you would any flax crackers. If you want them salted, just mix it in when you add the liquid to the flax seeds, or you could sprinkle it on the wet mixture before you dehydrate.

great idea angie! i was wondering how to make hot sauce, perhaps i should try that method. it would be fantastic to make fresh chili sauce.. i need to try it out.

  • I make the Sweet-P Smoothie every morning, provided I have the fruit on hand!

  • Smoothies, Jumble Salad, and date-nut bars.

  • there are a couple of recipes I make quite a bit.

    1) I call a flatwich. I use sundried tomato soft tortilla as the wrap; fill it with avocado, salsa, lettuce, sprouts, red pepper (whatever I have that is raw and organic) and eat for lunch.

    2) I eat Love Street Living Foods Raw Chocolate bars and spreads, I mix the spread with Artisana Cashew Butter (1 heaping teas. of each) and that is my dessert.

    3) I put cauliflower floweretts into the food processor till it looks like rice, then add frozen/defrosted sweet peas, olive oil and sea salt and it is wonderful. Watch out because 1 large cauliflower will make a whole lot and it will smell up the fridge in a couple of days if it's not all eaten!
