Transitioning Detox Question

I need some feedback on how detoxing works. I've been doing pretty well with raw since the new year, but the past couple days I hit a major crash. Yesterday I felt my energy really hit bottom. I had zero energy, couldn't think straight, was depressed. I tried some green tea to give me focus (I was a coffee drinker before) but 3+ cups totally didn't work. I had to stay at work really late last night, and I ended up having a cup of coffee and two slices of pizza (chicken mushroom, yikes) with my co-workers. Weird thing was, I almost immediately felt great again!

So I guess my question is, was my low-energy a symptom of detox? Did the coffee and pizza "plug up" the detox? I'm thinking of doing a Master Cleanse soon, does anyone have experience of going raw after a cleanse versus without cleansing? I'm hoping the MC will sort of be like ripping the band-aid off, and then I can get on with going raw. (I've done a MC before, but wasn't as committed to dietary changes).

Can any detox experts out there let me know what's going on, and what is the best way to transition without detracting too much from my life functioning?

Protein slows down detoxing, but it also is not healing.

I have heard, and also kind of believe, that what one is detoxing one starts to crave. So cravings indicate detoxing. Your okay cheating and you'll probably not want to cheat eventually because your body naturally would rather have nutrient dense easily digestible foods.

To slow down detoxing, add proteins like beans, leafy greens, avocado, etc (google is awesome for these kinds of things), also bananas slow down detoxing.

You'll feel better soon and it will be so worth it! Raw is totally awesome.

  • I started raw after I did the mastercleanse. I ate fairly healthy before so the detox symptoms werent bad at all for me. It is easier to do raw after because you have to transition your diet anyways or you will mess up your digestive system. So this makes it easier to stay raw I think. BUT....the mastercleanse can be intense if you need alot of detox.

yes that does sound like detox. try adding more GREENS rather than green tea. that will help you. you can also slow the detox with adding more fat into the diet. use raw fats like coconut and avocado.

  • Thank you for the comments. I sort of fell off the wagon after the "pizza incident," then I spent the weekend in Tahoe with all my foodie friends eating a bunch of crap. But now I'm back to my routine and will be having an avocado-grapefruit-greens salad for lunch. I plan on doing the master cleanse next week. Does anyone know if it's bad to yo-yo back and forth between raw and SAD? That's sort of where I'm at right now. I really appreciate the support!
