My SAD .. standard american docs .. believe that I may have early stages of Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. Basically my anti-microsomal antibodies (antithyroid immune response) are way up. My thyroid is still functioning at this time though, and I’d like to keep it that way.
Several years ago I began having horrible twitching that didn’t let up for more than 30 seconds here and there, as well as joint issues, pains, and migraines. After scans and tests and thoughts of imminent doom, the docs kept an eye on me for autoimmune issues. At that time I experienced an awakening—I saw how my lifestyle was affecting me and those around me. For philosophical reasons, I became a vegetarian.
Since then, I adopted a vegan diet, and currently I’m healing my body with raw foods. I believe that my diet stopped my welfare from careening off a cliff.
I’m looking for ways to stop my body from attacking itself. I realize that many attribute a faster metabolic rate & higher thyroid function properties to coconut oil. I’ve also read about iodine. Furthermore, I read that cruciferous vegetables can inhibit thyroid function.
That’s great, but what I’m more interested in is healing my immune system so it doesn’t want to battle my endocrine system in the first place. Any thoughts?
