Starting next week

Hi all-

I have been on a low carb diet for the past 6 months, and I feel well, “impure” I was a vegetarian for 11 years before that, and a vegan for 4 1/2 years. I lost 45 of the 60 pounds that I gained after a family tragedy, but I am horribly out of energy even though I have shed all of this weight. I am going to go raw for at least a month to see if I like it, but I am most definitely ready to add in some fresh produce which I rarely got to do on low carb. If anyone wants to give me tips and suggestions or has any yummy recipes or tips on supplements, please let me know…I can take all the help I can get!

  • Hi I was told to go on a low carb diet by my dr. a while back. It seemed really unhealthy to me- plus HE was overweight. SO I think this one is a lot healthier. The big conspiracy it seems like everyone is covering up is that it isn’t the “carbs,” it’s the empty carbs we are constantly eating. And even though I am pretty much of a sceptic by nature there is a real element of addiction to carbs. Just try to take them away from someone who doesn’t want you to or who haven’t made up their mind that they need to.

My boyfriend has basically agreed with the whole philosophy but he just won’t eat half the time now. Even though it’s a new thing to him it’s not new to people who have dieted before- he’s setting himself up for binging.

I’ve tried to ask him what he wants but he won’t help at all because his brain is telling him – All I want is a hamburger!- or bread- or chips. But he will eat my stuff sometimes.

I am suprised you were able to go low carb after being a vegan but it happens. They got to you first- you could say.

One thing I read that might help you is that pine nuts help curb appetite- so use them in cheese or salads. There are so many recipes on this site that could help you.

Nother thing to remember if you are still programmed into thinking that carbs are so bad is that fiber counter acts carbs so if you are eating a lot of fiber you’ll be good. Pears have a really high amount of fiber and would be great to work into your routine. Say you’re going to eat a pear for breakfast or after dinner every night.

The other thing is to eat things you can eat a lot of that don’t have a lot of calories like a cucumber has about 13! You should really enjoy the vegetables since you’ve been limiting them. I’d be curious to know how it goes for you. Good luck!
