i’ve been searching for vegan/eco-friendly shoes. there’s sooo many to choose from. i’m on my feet all day, so i need a shoe that will really perform, any suggestions? also i tend to put alot of wear on my shoes, so i need something really tough. i’d hate to spend alot of money on something only to be dissappointed…

  • That’s a good question. I was wondering the same thing. I can’t wear berks because they just aren’t made right for my feet. I get huge blisters plus I don’t think they make one that’s not made from animals.

I tried earth shoes….i didnt find them particularily long wearing but they where comfy…I live in danskos, not particularily green, or eco friendly but they save my back and last forever so at least im not buying new shoes every year.

  • Berks do make a vegan alternative!

How about Crocs? I think they’re the ugliest shoes on the planet, but those who wear them think they’re great!

Have you checked out Vegetarian Shoes? They make the Doc Marten style shoes and boots with the air cushion bottom so great if you are on your feets and they can take wear and tear too. I used to wear a pair of the boots as my “work boot” when I worked at a zoo and they got water logged, muddy and denched with old fish food for years and they never fell apart. :) They are made in the UK so you would have to order them online and they are a bit expensive but I think they are worth it.

I have two pairs of the veggie Berks too and I love them. As long as you don’t get them water logged too often, they last a long time and are comfortable. Unfortunately not all the style come in the veggie material.

Yup, Vegetarian Shoes is the best I have ever found, here’s their website:

Don’t forget that USA and UK shoe sizes are different…they have a shoe size help section.

  • Hi Zoe! Do you know what the conversion rate is? I don’t know if it’s two american dollars for one euro or the other way around and is this the same as the pound? That vegetarian shoe link was great. What a neat story!

Do you know if you can pay with american dollars and they convert it for you?

  • Check out the swiss masai shoes! They do have a couple of vegan models, and they are really something different! They are made in a way so that it feels like walking on sand, and you get much less stress on knees and joints. They also kind of force you up in a upright position, and people with back problems are very satified. They are not very pretty, but they don’t look that bad eighter, and after all, the body should come before vanity ;-) If you live in a city or in general are walking much on hard ground, this is GOOD!

    Check them out at www.swissmasai.com

    Love and light

It is approx $2 to the pound, so

writeeternity – they will convert it for you. I have ordered online from them before. I think the amount of conversion is different all the time depending on the conversion rate. So, your US dollar might be worth more at certain times than others. At least, it used to be that way with the pound. I remember the pound being worth around US $1.50.

You can convert at this site:http://www.onlineconversion.com/

Also, Vegan Essentials sells a good amount of vegan shoes. They sell a few of a vegetarian shoes brand too. http://www.veganessentials.com/

I just checked the current exchange rate,

  • Zoe, yes I’ve got them, and yes I’ve noticed a differense in my posture. Also, when I’m out walking in the city, I get tired kind of under my heels, but on these shoes, the weight isn’t on your heels but more on the middle of the foot. My boyfriend also have them, and he loves them too. I think what you have to do is just try them on, it’s really something totally different. :-)

I saw Earth Vegan shoes at Nest (natural store in Clarksville, MD). I really like the style of the shoes… but, can’t seem to find them online.
